Realizing your soul needs work feels both empowering and defeating at the same time, though the feeling of defeat doesn’t last long; Thank God! Defeating because you have to acknowledge that the problem, more often than not, is you and no one else. Empowering because working on your soul is the most rewarding feat in life and we don’t do this in our own strength.
Jesus came for the redemption of our souls and to work out our soul salvation is to become more like Christ.
Last year around this time I was confronted by God that the assignment I was set on accomplishing all along has been and will continue to be my soul. It wasn’t until this spring (2024) that I became committed to the cause and decided to do the So(u)l(e) work – birthing ‘The Sole Work Project’ where the SOLE purpose of our work is our SOUL.
Now this work involves some digging, uprooting, planting, and watering to bring forth the fruit of a soul made whole. In my digging, I’ve unearthed the lack of discipline and consistency I have functioned in – not that it never bothered me before, but this digging was a declaration that it’s time for change.
The resolve to this? Routines! Here are some Gems revealed to me about routines – I hope this helps you to start digging!
- Routines are developed not by what works for everyone but by what works for you.
- Patterns and habits of a routine ought to be based on what you can and are willing to do consistently and continually.
- Routines should have a level of comfort to them, making you want to commit.
- On the contrary, new habits and patterns may have to be formed, which, at first, may be uncomfortable.
- Routines are subject to change based on life changes. Patterns and habits shift around throughout the day but are firmly established so that they don’t get dumped out completely.
- Routines require discipline to be consistently applied.
Do what works for you and adjust as you go.
Don’t be hard on yourself.
Learn and Grow.
Let the development of your routine(s) be fun!
Release unnecessary pressure!
Oh! And don’t rush your routine. It should create ease and be done with ease.
Meditate on what work needs to be done in your soul. Maybe routines are where you need to start.
Love,
Temika
