What it means to believe and have faith . . .

Belief Beyond Salvation

There is a realization I came to a while ago because my own life spoke this reality too well: many of us believe only enough for salvation. What does this mean? We believe in Jesus Christ, we have faith in Him, and the salvation He brought us, but we do not believe Him concerning ALL of the excellent things He has afforded us.

1 John 5 tells us that whatever we ask according to His will is done for us, Psalms 37:4-5 tells us that God brings the desires of our heart to pass, and Philippians 4 tells us to think on all that is good. Now, I don’t know if (and quite frankly i don’t think) I have been the only one made to feel bad for thinking good things and that good things will happen to and for me. It’s an internal battle more than external. This internal battle has fueled unbelief – the mama and papa of double-mindedness and doubt.

I found it so interesting how I was able to come into faith fueled results but had great difficulty replicating these results consistently. If faith is the currency of the Kingdom, before receiving the revelation I’m about to share, you could consider me a homeless person on a lonely road just waiting for someone to deposit some in my cup – not knowing when the next fill is going to come.

My husband knew what he was doing when he set us on a fast to increase in faith by the leading of the Holy Spirit of God. This led me to have questions and a deep yearning to understand how one believes; How does faith actually work? God revealed this to me and it changed my life – my perspective:

Believe is something you do, faith is something you have. That’s why faith is substance.

To believe is to be persuaded, to have confidence in, to think to be true. Once you accomplish any of these actions you now possess something, which is faith, the substance of what you’re expecting. That’s why scripture says “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24

Belief is you taking something you desire as your own. Faith is having those things as a result of believing.

Bye bye to one-off results and Hello to consistent results yielded by believing and faith with revelation.

What are you believing for?

With love,

Temika
